More disturbing information.
What you see below is the content of an email I got from someone involved ACLU-related activities and the University of Iowa chapter of Student Physicians for Social Responsibility. I can't seem to get the addresses below to work as direct links, but if you paste them into your internet browser, you should have no problems getting to them.

The "Domestic Security Enhancement Act" is a newly proposed Act that would severely limit rights we take for granted today. Here is just ONE EXAMPLE of what this dangerous Act would enable (not an exaggeration):
1) Government targeting of ordinary people working as activists for ANY cause (religious , pro-choice, whatever)--going as far as stripping their American citizenship (even if you were born here) and the death penalty for any action that breaks a law and is broadly deemed "dangerous to human life." That means the recent war protestors in New York (nearly 1000) who laid in the streets (staging a "die-in") could potentially have their citizenship revoked and be subject to the DEATH PENALTY for acts of civil disobedience!!!

If you desire to maintain the rights we have left that are so vital to our being American, please take literally one minute to send a copy of letter to your legislators via the ACLU website. Click on the first link below (Stop the New Patriot Act) and you can read more about the proposed Act . Then you can put your zip code in the box at the bottom of the page and push "go". It then forwards you to a page where you can send a pre-written fax, email, or letter to your Congressmen through the ACLU for free. You can modify the letter as you wish, or just send it as is. Once you are at this page, just fill out your contact info (most, if not all, legislators require identifying info--not anonymous) and push send. For a short period, this new Act has been put on hold, but legislators need to hear from their constituents to know we want to maintain our constitutional 1st and 4th Amendment rights (many of which were already taken in the first Act ).
If you do not know about the original Patriot Act (which has already passed), check out the third link below (Surveillance Under the USA PATRIOT Act ) to learn how our rights have already been infringed on. Unfortunately, this Act does not help to prevent International terrorism, it only decreases the privacy of law abiding American citizens--the preposed new Act does further of the same and more.
