I'm a winner!
Dear Mom and Dad,
Last night, my friends and I went to a pub to play their Australia-themed pub quiz, it being Australia Day yesterday and all. There were 2 rounds just on Aussie stuff, which I was obviously no help with, but they had one major round on alcohol and drinking, and boy did I nail that! Thanks so much for raising me in a bar. How else would I have known what goes into a fuzzy navel, or the recipe for a long island iced tea? Where else would I have heard stories about mezcal, or learned which beer calls itself "the genuine article"? I knew you were aiming me for greatness, and although it took a while to manifest itself, last night all was revealed. My team won the pub quiz, and we all won bar tickets worth 5 beers each. Might not sound like much, but beers are $8-10 apiece here, so that was like winning $45 per person (with a 6 person team, that's $270)!
