Jun 08, 2009 13:31

From June 8 to June 22, you can join the National Marrow Donor registry for FREE!  If you haven't done this, it's painless, and for the next few weeks, FREE.  Did I mention FREE?  And painless!

You could save a life!  (And a lot of time, they don't even take marrow, they take stem cells by apheresis--so fairly painless, even if you donate!)

Gotta discuss this with The Bog first. But I'd love to do this. They won't let me give blood anymore (Which is weird considering how often I'd donated before until they changed the rules on me again) but this said there was no issue with having traveled out of the country.

Cool. Interesting--I didn't discuss it with my husband. I just did it.

I don't mean I 'have' to discuss it with him. I meant I wanted to. ;->

That wasn't a judgement, though I realize it probably sounded like it. It simply didn't occur to me to discuss it with him. I just told him I was doing it. There's lots of things I absolutely wouldn't do without discussing it with him....I think I ended up posting before I finished my thought. The rest of my thought process was something like....I wonder if I should have, or do I have a right to do anything I want with my body without discussion, or does marriage grant him a say....

You know, rambly stuff.

I didn't take it as you being judgemental. Not in the slightest. And when I typed that reply, I was wondering if you might think it was.

I was making a joke about not 'reporting' to my husband. I know too many women who ask "permission" to do anything. I still remember going alone to the pub one day back when Bog and I were first together and someone asking, "He LETS you come out alone?" I said, "He doesn't LET me do anything. I make my own decisions!"

I felt sorry for this guy's girlfriend. ;->
