So I’m procrastinating doing any work because I’m just tired. I’ve been tired all week. The doctor has me on massive amounts of Advil several times a day to help with the stress fracture in my foot and my stupid pinched sciatic nerve. So it hurts to walk and it hurts to sit, but I have to walk and sit all day anyway. It only doesn’t hurt when I am laying down on my stomach, but I can’t do anything when I’m laying on my stomach so I don’t. I think the Advil is helping though, it just makes me groggy. So I’m catching up on LJ and trying not to fall asleep.
Regardless of my stupid leg, I’m having an awesome month of art. My art opening a couple weeks ago went really good. And I had several artists from Local 14 interested in my joining their group, which would be awesome. I love the artists in Local 14 and just went to a fabulous art show they had and was really impressed. So I’m looking forward to that possibility. I was shocked when they showed up at the opening. One of them ironically was a potter I bought some stuff from at their last show and we didn’t realize it until she gave me her card to keep in touch, it was pretty funny, small world this art world is sometimes. They are accepting applications in January, so keep your fingers crossed. If I got accepted it could really open a lot of doors.
I also got confirmation this week about another show I’ll be having this next year at the West Linn Public Library, very excited about that one. They have a fabulous space and I sold several pieces the last time I showed there (many many years ago). So now I’m just waiting on confirmation when I’ll have the space. I’ve also got another show coming up in February. And the gallery I visited in Sisters finally confirmed they’d like some of my work, they are just trying to find room for it. So hopefully I’ll have some work there before Christmas. Need to work on a few more pieces and get some more frames finished.
I also had a really awesome day in the print lab on Monday and finished probably my best print ever. Oh, and today I finally located a place in Beaverton to buy Ferric Chloride. So now I’ll have everything I need in my studio for doing etchings. So I’m very excited. All and all my art world is going pretty good.
Oh, and I’m finally trying to learn how to play my cool green piano. Fortunately Nick is not freaking out when I play Jingle Bells 800 times. He’s so sweet about it. I’m practicing everyday and it’s getting better. I know I have a long long way to go, but at least I can finally play something, all be it slow, it’s something.
OK, I should probably get back to my studio and do something productive.
