hot nights

today = good day, but this time its MY good day and not some other japanese one

a canadian friend of ours, an exchange student in cologne, had her birthday last week so we went out to celebrate tonight. despite there being a party at our school for two girls' birthday, i chose to attend the one in cologne.

good choice

im with all of the people from school every weekend, so i figured i would broaden my horizons and speak a little english while im at it. it was amazing. we had soo much fun just walking around the city and hanging out... ive decided that exchange students are the coolest people in the world. they are always so open and easy going and accepting, you know? its like, it doesnt matter what country you are from, what language you speak, or whatever else. we just all hung out together and had a good time. good times.

a few photos from the evening:

and the boys:

we were quite the international group, i must say. one super cool american, two mexican, two canadian, one argentinian, and one german/russian. very cool...

i went to a concert last week with a friend from school. he's awesome, but the band wasnt. for all of those who have heard of them, they are called the mad caddies and are a punk/ska/reggae band from the states. it was still a fun show, mainly because after it was over all the drunk, stinky, and sweaty germans take off their shirts and rummage around the streets half naked. but then it sucked because we had to get into the car and drive 30 minutes home and let me tell you, german deoderant is weak.

i sent some postcards, letters, and packages last week to all of you in the states and japan, sarah. but i still have one left to send because i dont have the address of mr. jared epling, so if anyone reading this happens to know, have, or be able to get this information, it would be of much help to me, because im pretty sure he doesnt ever check his email. and then the surprise is gone anyways. mabe ill just take a picture of the postcard and email it to him, haha. its cheap, but what can you do? oh thats it, nothing. oh yeah, i also bought a new cd last week. its only the 2nd that i have bought in the 2 and some odd months that ive been here!!!!!!! thats quite amazing i must say. in america i bought cds like i eat sauer kraut and butter sandwiches here in germany. hmm, thats odd. its like somehow my obsession with cd buying has switched with my absolute disgust for sauer kraut and butter sandwiches, apparently. or i just dont have any money and my host parents feed me like a caged animal.

so back to the cd, its the new kings of leon "aha shake heartbreak". i wasnt so sure if i liked it at the first few listens, but after about a week now ive decided that its one of the best i have bought in a long time. much different from their first release, the kings have grown-up into a more emotional, musically diverse quartet with heart-felt lyrics and bass lines that could knock your socks off- so be careful.

those last few sentences were a means of rebuilding my english writing skills, as i've found that the more german i learn and the less english i speak, the more i make mistakes with english. and not only do i make them, i make them in the ways a typical german would. for example, in german there is no difference between the english words "make" and "do", its all just "machen". have you made your homework? what have you made today?

and tomorrow i MUST finish my application to Austin College/NYU

Gute Nacht.
