2011 - The year that was

Now that 2012 has begun, I thought it would be time to have a post looking back at 2011. Last year was a really wonderful year for me, I found some amazing friends and some very treasured memories <3

First I would like to talk a little bit about lolita, because it has really been a large part of my life the past year. My wardrobe is well on its way to being the size I would love it to be (I currently have 7 dresses, 4 skirts, an assortment of tops, outerwear and socks, a few shoes and a decent amount of accessories and jewellery) with a few more things coming… I haven’t posted this anywhere yet, but I will be getting Rose Melody’s lyrical autumn JSK! Squee! <3 I feel I’ve gained enough confidence to where lolita whenever I want, though there are still some situations where I feel it wouldn’t be appropriate to wear a full lolita co-ord.

Lolita has helped me to meet people who I would never have met before! I’m so glad to have my new friends in my life, otherwise I would be very lonely indeed. When I first became a part of my local lolita comm, I felt I truly belonged somewhere and was with people who I could really relate with and have happy times together! I love you guys <3 (you all know who you are :3)

Lolita meets have been AWESOME and so have the cons this year! I attended Armageddon in March, Otakelaide in May, AVCON in July and the mini Avcon in September. The atmosphere at the big AVCON this year was fantastic, so different to when I attended in 2010 (back then I didn’t know any lolitas or cosplayers and was very shy and awkward when meeting new people :s). Some of the smaller cons were close to being let-downs, but the fact that at each con I could hang out with friends made everything ok ^^

On to other things, like gaming :o 2011 was full of fantastic games! Of course, the best for me was the long-awaited Skyrim! Definitely worth the wait and definitely worth saving up for the collector’s edition. This year I was also introduced to the Dragon Age games, and loved every moment of playing Origins and almost every moment of DA2 xD

My creative side did come out a little more in 2011 than it had in the previous two years (2009 and 2010 I was so overrun by uni that I barely drew and I only taught myself to sew from December 2010) with a few sewing projects being completed and a few drawings I’m really proud of. You can see my deviantArt if you like, it’s been a bit neglected lately but I’m hoping to rectify that soon c:

I had also tried a lot of new recipes and also eaten at a lot of new restaurants in 2011, which is very exciting! When I was a kid, I was an extremely fussy eater and only ate plain foods and salads and stuff. But now I love trying new Indian and Asian cuisine! Still not a fan of seafood, though! xD

This year I’m looking forward to many more lolita outings and hopefully I will have time since my uni schedule is pretty hectic. There will be 8 weeks in which I need to complete a placement in a pharmacy (I put down my preference for a pharmacy in my hometown so hopefully I will get that) and other than that, the courses are spread out throughout the year. I’m hoping that since they are so spread out, the workload will be a little less so I may have time to pick up a part-time job. My partner and I need to start saving up as much money as possible, for some overseas holidays and also when we decide to have a baby.

I’m not the kind of person to make New Year’s resolutions, but I should really try to spend less money! But it’s so hard not to, with all those tempting lolita clothes (Tokyo Hardcore being so close doesn’t really help xD) and also video games, anime and manga D:

I have a post I’d like to write about the last parts of my holiday and also my latest lolita purchases <3

So see you all soon! The best of luck to everyone in this new year, I hope you achieve all your dreams and goals~

Sorry about all the text... I may add in some pretty pictures later :3
