Today I slept until 11:30, showered and had Fruestuck. Then my Aunt and Uncle and I drove to France to buy bread. Let me explain. My family lives on the border of Germany and France so driving to France, while it seems entirely romantic to me, is actually no big deal. We went to the super market and bought bread (baguettes), scallops, six different kinds of cheese, oranges, chocolate, and wine. They told me to pick out something that I wanted to eat (was isst du gerne? hol es einfach!) so after careful consideration I decided on a wheel of rich French goat cheese. I decided to order it myself...in French...which I have like a 10 word knowledge of and no grammatical reference point. So I went down the cheese aisle and looked for the goat cheese packages with the pictures of goats on them and deduced that "goat" is "chevre" in French. Cheese i knew. So here's what I said when i went to the counter "Moi sans Francais aber petit fromage chevre...merci." Then I did some pointing and sign language and I got my cheese! It was exhilarating. I thought about throwing in "Je pens don je sui" ("I think therefore I am") just because but i decided ordering cheese wasn't a situation that called for waxing philosophical. Then we came home and ate a cheese, baguette, red wine lunch with a chocolate and coffee dessert. It was basically the best meal i've ever had. and i mean that. the goat cheese was magnifique. After lunch we went to my uncle Walter's house and met his new girlfriend (Marie from France). We were only supposed to stay an hour but we ended up staying 6 hours and drinking wine that my uncle makes and talking. I learned some funny things about my family and enjoyed myself immensely. My uncle is full of funny little phrases and words of wisdom. Now I'm tired (physically and mentally) and full of wine. This might be a good place to end. Good night Mon Cheris!
