Because I'm a total junkie for h/c and I love to see my favorites get the snot kicked out of them... Something where Sam has some kind of terminal illness (Brain tumor? Cancer? Inherited whatever mom had? Something else?) and doesn't tell anyone. That's why he pulls all sorts of crazy stunts like base jumping, being reckless on his motorcycle, etc. That's why he won't take over the company, dropped out of school, doesn't let people close. He's completely self-destructive.

Going to the grid aggravates it, and he winds up all sick and in a lot of pain by the time he reunites with his father. Maybe he eventually tells him? Maybe Flynn reviews his disc and finds out? Maybe Sam decides to stay and sacrifice himself so Flynn and Quorra can escape instead? Idek, there's lots of options and ways you can go with this. I just want some father son angst and hurt/comfort dealing with the fact that even thought they're finally back together, it will not be for long.
