Camp Restore
Long time no update. :-)
I'm with 15 college students from CMU doing Katrina relief work in New Orleans, LA out of Camp Restore. We arrived today and the place looks like the hurricane hit last week, rather than a year and a half ago. It's remarkable how much of the city is boarded up, broken down, and/or vacated. A high note of the ride was being passed by the four-bus, police-escorted motorcade containing the LSU Tiger's football team (they're playing in the Sugar Bowl here on Jan 3).
We begin work tomorrow, and it should be pretty good. Our group is very excited to get to it. This is their third Katrina trip, for me it's the first.
