Before I get rusty on today, let me write it down.
I was determined all day long to smooth things out with Katie. Weve had a long history together, and its about damn time that things get back to good. No more looking away in the halls when we see each other. None of that s**t. So:
In the morning I wrote her a note. Delivered it during passing period in person. No more shy junk.
Got back from CEC at 2:00, determined to talk to her in person. Face to face, the way it should be. I caught her in the bandroom at 2:30 and ditched 5 minutes of my trombone lesson to talk to her. I set up a chair in front of me and asked her to sit down. Face to face.
Roughly, this is what transpired.
K: "Hey, I've been meaning to talk to you"
N: "Yea, me too, to sort this all out"
We exchanged a few light words; chit-chat.
Then;
K: "I'd like to stay friends-
N: "me too-
K: "because it seemed like you might of been wanting more.
N: "naah, I've just been wanting to re-establish our friendship"
K: "Yeah, thats good"
Despite what it might seem like lately, just this transpiring is awesome. We talked and made sure that:
N: "So there's no damage done?"
K: "No, none at all. I wanted to apologize too-
N: "-no, you have nothing to apologize for. If anything, this has been my fault"
We didn't talk long, and she thanked me for not getting her a rose. It avoided an uncomfortable situation for her amongst her friends. However, just being able to establish that all this "iciness" was rediculous and that we should talk more often, was a breath of fresh mountain air. She said she'd drop by the library (where I am first period) every now and then to do homework and talk. Which is nice, because talking is a hellava lot better than notes is most cases.
So, in summary:
I faced, with full confidence, Katie today to fix things. Its something I havent done for over a year, but my much elevated self confidence this year (senior, baby!) paid off with allowing us to smooth it all out.
Whew, thats one situation I was worrying would never be solved, but it finally is.
