I'm learning the string bass!
Yay! for Teaching Strings and Percussion Class. Its very very fun. so far we're covering the basics, like holding the bow, although we are not ACTUALLY allowed to have our bows yet. we have dowel sticks with clothespins taped to them to simulate bows, actually, so its pretty funny. today we sang a song while doing an exercise to loosen us up:
UP LIKE A ROCKET, (the vertical, one-handed bow position goes up!)
AND DOWN LIKE THE RAIN! (and down, wiggly wiggly wiggly)
ROUND AND ROUND LIKE A THE BIG ROUND SUN (circular motion)
BACK AND FORTH LIKE A CHOO CHOO TRAIN (forward and backward motion)
LAND ON YOUR HEAD, AND BEND YOUR THUMB! (self explanatory)
its pretty fun! grab a pencil and try it out!
