When Technology Strikes
Damnit! First it was an old Cisco switch (yeah, pretty old... but manageable!). Now it's an old Netgear 10/100 switch I had sitting in the closet -- closets are for toys and clothes, remember. Seems the power adapter overheated and popped sometime during the day. :( I thought I lucked out when I found an alternate power supply and powered it back up... looks like it just died or maybe overheated.
So I had to dig further into my old equipment chest and yank out a 24 port 10/100 Netgear with fans. Hopefully this will resolve more permanently my switch woes. Sucks when you get home and the network is down. :-(
