Canadian Thanksgiving

Oct 08, 2012 16:00

So odd that we celebrate on a different day than our American counterparts but who am I to question an official day off?

And some interesting facts "aboot" my country:
Dog food is tax deductible in Canada. It's true!
The longest highway in the world is the Trans-Canada highway. It stretches for over 7604 kilometers - that's 4725 miles! You have to check out this link, a cute little icon appears in the address bar.
Even though we are the second largest country in the world, we have one of the lowest population densities in the world - approximately 3 people per square kilometer! That's approximately .62 miles.
Canadians invented the game Trivial Pursuit.
Vikings settled in East Coast Canada in 1000AD - the first authenticated North American landing of the Norse!
There are more doughnut (Canadian spelling!) shops in Canada per capita than any other country. Oh Tim Horton...
Saskatchewan does not practice daylight savings time. They're on the same clock as Alberta for half the year!
3 of the 10 best cities in the world to live in for 2012 are in Canada! We are so awesome!
