I never would have thought it, but
Kenneth Branagh did a damn fine job on
Thor!
Wicked cool elements of Norse mythology, including a brilliant scene with
Odin riding in on his
eight legged horse to rescue Thor and his buddies from frost giants.
Brilliant special effects, amazing action on Earth and
Asgard and a very delicious looking
Chris Hemsworth as the headstrong act-before-you-think Thor make this flick a great pre-cursor to the upcoming Avengers movie. I particularly appreciated seeing
Ray Stevenson as
Volstagg.
Don't wanna spoil anything, so I'll just say that you really ought to see this movie. Both Eric and I enjoyed it more than both Iron Man movies and it totally blew the Spiderman series out of the water.
I'm not usually a fan of beefcake-type guys but Chris Hemsworth as Thor is rather pleasant to gaze upon.
I feel obliged to admit that some of my enjoyment of this movie might stem from the fact that our D&D game is Norse Diety inclined. Our party is currently on a mission for
Hel, Norse Goddess of the Dead - those not killed in battle end up in her domain. Our cleric worships Hel and my thief character has become of big fan of The Lady as well.
