My mother had a sudden and unprecedented attack of taste (she's currently munching her way through A Song of Fire and Ice while bitching about How Terribly Male it all is (her usual complaint of most fantasy (that's not to say GRRM is uber awesome either, I'm well aware of his flaws too(even the parentheses need parentheses sometimes))), before demanding the next book) and decided that she no longer wants her Sookie Stackhouse books. I thought I'd try to read them before I dumped them at the charity shop because I'd read managed to get through the first one and thought "they can't be worse than Anita Blake".

Sookie is not only a big ole stupid head, but the most boringest bore that ever boringed. Her insipid head-space renders everything into a big pile of meh and it is frankly amazing that True Blood managed to make the dull series into a successful soft core porn show (I know True Blood has its own dubious issues with racefail among other things but it is so much better than the books).
I can happily read bizarre vampirey crap, random surprise elf incest, double-dicked alien porn, magical cock ring fantasy, drow porn with the numbers files off, so-called bodice rippers, chick-lit, and even omg YA, but I cannot wade through this dross. I think the biggest sin a story can commit is to be dull (well actually it's second to being a big sneaky plagiarising thiefypants but dull is a close second) and Charlaine Harris is a big sinner with me.
