ITT: things that get you moving on writing?

for me, i can never write without music, so i plug in earbuds and go at it. and i HAVE to listen to fast, upbeat stuff like bonamana and super girl and recently, beautiful hangover and 4 minute's huh. slow stuff doesn't work for me... unless i'm writing porn, then i just put heartquake on repeat lmao.

sometimes music works for me, but mostly i need absolute silence. :|

and lately i have been obsessed with Like a G6 which is UNHELPFUL because i really can't write to trance/hip-hop music. and yet i can't stop listening to it.

i had to google Like a G6 >_> but lmao that is like one of the types of music that i have to listen to if i want to write :3

I always have to have music playing to write, too. But it has to be music in a foreign language (or I'm listening to the words and not concentrating) and I am the OPPOSITE of you, I need to have slow, beautiful music playing, and it can only be one song, kept on constant loop (this is how I sleep, too, hmm...) Usually it's either a song by Nell, MOT, or Onitsuka Chihiro, depending on what kind of mood I'm trying to evoke in my fic.

Also, sometimes I forget how to write fanfic lately, so I need to go away and read good fic, to remind me how to do so >>

I usually listen to slow stuff. Snow Patrol is probably best for me, though right now I love 你不会 by S.H.E. I usually have to discuss what I'm writing with someone though, just to get started. I guess it all depends on my mood. I need someone to talk to if I'm writing porn though :|

a writing buddy is definitely the biggest help! though those are kind of in short supply for me, lately. :/ scoffs at people having actual lives and stuff.

what is this "lives" you speak of? I've never heard of such a thing.

i'm not really sure, but i think it possibly involves happenings outside of one's house? face-to-face interactions with peers who are in one's social group? i study the television box when i can, but still have much to learn about such bizarre practices.

I always needed a writing buddy, even just to help spark inspiration and bounce ideas off of! But my co-writer has left fandom and found a life :(

omg we had such plans for that fic, and I really don't want to give it up (we even wanted to get rid of it and write it up as an original story ;~;) but she's gotten busy now and doesn't really have the inspiration to write suju fic anymore! i cry under my skin for this loss ;____;

sobs i always thought fandom could a writing-buddy matching up service; like there's communities and things to find betas, but a writing buddy is something different and more dear to one's heart! :'( and requires special compatibilities, ofc.

that could be an idea worth looking into! it would also be a fun way to make new friends! times like now, when i need fun ideas, is when I need a writing buddy ;___;

HMMM. you could try! I don't know how well these things generally go over, but if people are wanting fic writing friends to talk with or be writing buddies with, it could be good!
