I've gotten myself pre-approved for a home loan. I've been looking at homes off Shelby in East Nashville. I've got a list of foreclosures and below market homes around Nashville and I've been checking them out. From what I've seen I can get a pretty decent home (2 bed /1 bath that's structurally sound) for less than 80 grand. (Did ya hear that California? 80k!) Cosmetics don't matter because Jules and I can remodel ourselves. I don't want to spend more than 80k because I want to be able to put cash into the remodel instead of paying higher notes. It looks like my note will be about 500 (not including taxes and insurance) a month. It'll be a lot cheaper than what I'm paying to live at Big Red (800). -and it'll be about the same square footage (1000sq'). In fact, a couple of the houses I'm interested in are going for 65-70k just because they're a couple blocks closer to "The Hood."
I don't know how I feel about leaving Big Red. It's the most awesomest place in Nashville. There's no doubt I'll miss it as well as the lifestyle associated with it. Getting a house will be work and constant work improving the house as long as I'm there. I think that's what I want now. I tend to feel lazy here at Big Red. Not enough projects for me. I guess I'm ready to make an investment for the future. I don't think I was quite ready for it the first time I did it seven years ago.
That's all for now.
