Anyway, as I said at the time, I loved this, though in my personal canon Jack and the Doctor meet again before the radiation chamber and things go very differently *g*

Anyway, thank you again, I'm glad you liked the story. And it can go anywhere you like after that! (I personally like that it could just slip into the cracks of canon without changing anything - that makes it feel more real to me somehow.)

I'm currently rough-drafting a long fic that stars Jack in the role of Third Wheel to Ten/Donna. And this is so very much up the alley I'm shooting for.
Jack is so much better than most of the reams of hot, hot slashfic out there give him credit for.
A deep breath. "Fine, I'll tell you." He leaned back against the console and closed his eyes. "I want to stop losing people. Everyone who travels with me, I always lose them. Even you - you can't even die, and I'm still losing you more each time." He opened his eyes again, looked Jack directly in the eye, unsure of what he'd find there.
Jack was scowling. "If you really wanted to keep me, you could." And because he was Jack, of course he couldn't resist underlining the innuendo with a leer. Then he leaned forward, clear challenge in his eyes, the set of his chin, in his posture. "I'll stay if you want, temporal prime directive be damned. You know that - you've always known it."It's rough that it just can't quite work with the one human who's never going to die on ( ... )
