Yuletide Fic: Behold, a New World (Coldfire) [PG-13]

Yuletide reveal! After you've watched me all aflail over the writing, well, let me say I'm really quite happy with the way the story turned out in the end. I'm reposting it here because I believe in redundancy, but feel free to comment either here or on the AO3, whichever you prefer. :)

Completely unsurprisingly, this is the story I wrote:

And I love you - you were such a great help there at the end. Awesome beta experience. :D

(You already know I agree completely with you about the ending, and I'm really happy myself to have hit upon this solution.)

I love this so much! It captures perfectly the delicious complexities of their connection... Damien's horror and ... craving. And of course, abiding friendship. I love that the Hunter is still a part of Tarrant, but he has choices, too. And that there is that honesty between them.

I hate to say it but this feels like the start of a novel. Might you perhaps be persuaded to continue it?

Thank you very much! I'm so glad it works for you. :)

Actually, I've been brainstorming a bit for what happens next, but I haven't hit on the right plot yet. If I do, I'll definitely write it - after all, I want a sequel, too! Even if I have to write it myself. *g*

Fourth read, and I managed to get to the end. ;-)

Loved it, in case I haven't said so before. Absolutely love it. It all works and makes sense, and it's a fix-it I can really live with. The workings! And the bickering! And they're finally on a mutual first-name basis!

What I really adore to bits about this and what cracked me up every time is that Gerald's first successful working is about cleaning himself up. It's just so him.

Thanks muchly! I'm so glad it makes sense. And yes, the cleaning is just so very Gerald, isn't it? :D I keep thinking about that scene in WTNF, when he wasn't even able to climb out of a hole without help but still had to spent some of his energy on cleaning himself up. Oh, Gerald. ♥
