"You got it!" Huh? I got what?
so, after a long agonizing waiting period...we finally received the results of Matt's MECEP application yesterday.
I had spent an hour on the phone with my best friend lamenting about the results taking so long to post and dreading them being postponed until after christmas. I hadn't been off the phone very long before I decided to check the maradmin page for shits and giggles. and low and behold there was the title I'd been waiting to see:
MCBUL 1560. FISCAL YEAR 2009 (FY09) MARINE ENLISTED /COMMISSIONING EDUCATION PROGRAM (MECEP) SELECTION BOARD RESULTS
He was accepted. !!!!
It's a great opportunity for him, and I am just so pleased that he was recognized and is being given it. This will mean a lot of hard work and great reward for him in the near future. It's been a long wait, and now there is finally a set momentum to the next four years for him. That alone is a great relief. He will not be deploying for the next four year either. He plans to apply to Purdue University for the fall. It's a real slice of just plain old great news.
We're talking at this point about Elora and I moving back in March. He'll be going to MECEP prep from May to July...so there's little reason for us to stick around Jacksonville. Except the friends I've made recently...which really sucks. Because they are a (mostly) drama free group, and I've bonded big time with one girl in particular. We have a ton in common, and she's got a great new england accent...that is rather infectious. I've also been saying wicked a lot....as in "geez, it's wicked cold out here today!". Heh.
I wish we could come back to indy for the holiday season...see some snow. But the money is gone for now...and there is a lot to do here. There is a chapter closing, as this year rings out. Next year will be full of change. Hopefully, a better year for everyone I know and love. I can't wait to see all my buds again, and get to some familiar ground. Lots to do.
