the ice princess was a climate change prophecy: y/n?

I spent a lot of yesterday and Friday night watching the 50 years of General Hospital marathon on SoapNet. I just relived my childhood and high school and college years. Luke and Laura! The Ice Princess! Frisco and Felicia, Robert and Anna and Robin. Robin and Stone, and Robin and brain-damaged!Jason. Last night I watched the episode where Maxie gets BJ's heart, and good lord. I wasn't watching the show back when that happened, but I'd heard about it. Original recipe Lucky and Emily (Hi Amber Tamblyn!), who are pretty much my favorite soap kids ever. I was expecting the crazy hair and clothes during those 80's years, but I'd forgotten about the decor. Oh my god, all the Lucite and peach and teal.

It makes me sad that Soaps are basically dying off. I grew up on them. My grandmother, who watched me when I was a kid was an NBC soap watcher, so I grew up with Days of Our Lives. I still have a pavlovian reaction to the Days theme music and "Like sands through the hour glass..." It gives me a sudden, strong craving for my grandmother's food. Then in high school, I started watching GH because of the Luke and Laura phenomenon. Since then I've come and gone at different times, but some of these people feel a bit like family. It's sad that soaps are dying and being replaced by more and more talk shows. I guess people just aren't watching them anymore and talk shows are way cheaper to produce. Anyway, it's been fun reliving it.

And now I have new Dr. Who to watch and tonight is the season finale of Walking Dead and the season premier of Game of Thrones! So much good tv to watch!

I also feel like I want to talk about MCR, but that's going to have to wait, because I have to get some stuff done today.
