My favorite food here is kimbap. is is yummy and cheap ($2.50- $2) and easy to say.Especially kimchi kimbap. Yummmmmmmm. (I learned how to make it, it's sooo good)
When I first got here I found a kimbap/mandu (dumpling) place and I went there EVERY day.
Then...recently a new place opened up a little tiny bit closer to my house, a little cheaper AND they give me extra stuff -cuz I am foreign (for real!)
So, I hadn't been to the old place in awhile, and felt bad - the Ajummas (ladies who run the place) were like my imaginary extended family. There are three of them, and two guys (my age-ish)(one with a baby - so cute!) and I have a whole imaginary life for them. (It's all imaginary because I don't understand anything of what they say)
(but I can guess stuff)
Right , so I went there today, and they had rennovated, I assume because the (younger) Ajumma down the street is taking their business.
And the mandu was delicious.
So now I have to go back more often, so they don't think I have abandoned them.
Even though the other place is cheaper and more willing to impress.
It's funny, actually.

my imagined (but probably right) Ajumma politics.
