Mel is, currently, sitting down with a cat on her lap. Her hair's a bit mussy, since it's a windy day. She's thinking about getting it cut.

She looks a bit less depressed, but that's mostly because she's starting to forget what it was like before she had her powers.

Triv hasn't been around much lately. She hasn't said why she's been gone, but she's only been checking in every couple days to make sure that Mel's all right.

She sits next to Mel, scritching the cat between the ears. "So, how are you doing, teknon?"

Sarah shows up, not far away at all. She's wrapped in a thick shawl and doesn't look too bad for someone sick. Although her skin looks a little pasty and her nose is very red.

She's got a cardboard box in her hands. She approaches Mel and Triv and very carefully sets down the box. "Oh, hello, Triv." She smiles warmly at Mel's mentor -- well, as warmly as she can while feeling ill. "I came by to give Melinda something I made."

"Pretty good." She smiles a little. It's less forced than it would have been a couple of weeks ago. "Sarah's gonna vi-"

... speak of the devil.

"Ugh, still sick?" Mel looks sympathetic, and looks curiously at the box. Then she takes it hesitantly starts to open it.

Triv's looking curious herself, and takes the cat so that Mel can concentrate on her gift. The cat doesn't seem too pleased to be shifted, but a quick rub under the chin settled it down quickly enough.

Sarah takes a seat as well, on the other side of Melinda. "It's made of glass, mostly. But not very thick glass. I hope it's okay."

A pale blue light greets Melinda as soon as she opens the box. Inside is a glass figurine, about six inches tall, of a woman who looks an awful lot like Melinda. Her arms are reaching for the sky, as if she's trying to hug the stars.

In between the tiny glass hands is a little glowing orb. Its blue light casts shadows on the girl's smiling face.

Mel, very carefully, takes it out.

Her eyes might just be a little wet.

"It's wonderful, Sarah."

"Beautiful. You did a wonderful job on that."

Sarah beams. Her eyes are a little watery, too, but it's probably just that pesky flu she has. A tissue appears in her hand and she wipes at her eyes.

"Thank you, both of you. The light was the hard part. But then I remembered those blankets you made for me and Daniel, Mel, and it got me thinking." She reaches out and draws her finger through the blue orb. It flares a little, then glows softly as usual. "It's a little like a flame, but it won't burn you."

"That was practically a lifetime ago..." Mel pokes the flame, and smiles. It's a real one. Then she carefully sets the figure back in the box, and goes to hug Sarah.

Triv gently dissuades the cat from poking at the figurine. "Not for you, silly beast." She smiles faintly. "Might want to put that somewhere safe, teknon. You know how curious the cats are."

Sarah returns Melinda's hug. "I couldn't have done it without your help."

She glances at the cat. "It'll break easily, but I can-- no, you'll be able to repair it, once you get your powers back.

Mel blushes.

"Good."

Triv starts to say something, then quiets, looking contemplative.
