Koyama gets the text minutes after he gets home from work.

The air in his apartment is stifling, and his first move is to crank up the air conditioning full blast. It’s a blazing June afternoon, the kind of afternoon that makes Koyama want to sit in front of a fan and die, to rip off all his clothes and dive into an ice-cold bath. And he would, except he’s already made the mistake of flopping onto his couch. His feet dangle at odd angles and his limbs slowly melt into pleather; a sweaty cheek presses against the cool material as he wills the cold to seep into his overheated skin.

At that point, there was no way he was going to move, and it doesn’t take long before his eyes flutter shut. He can feel rays of light stream through the blinds and line his skin with a comfortable sort of warmth. He yawns, idly scratches a stretch of exposed stomach, and he is just beginning to nod off when his phone jingles.

Koyama sleepily glares at the device, which is on the coffee table and entirely too far away.

“Go away,” Koyama grumbles. He swats at the table, fingers barely catching the edge of the table before slipping off. He tries again. Nothing. What an inconvenience; Koyama considers ignoring the text message just on principle alone. But then he feels a little guilt, because would he like it if someone ignored his text? Unfortunately, the answer is no, so with a deep sigh, he sits up and reaches out with a grunt to grab the phone (but really, Koyama grabs the phone because it might be that girl he hooked up with a couple nights ago).

It is not that girl, which is sad because he could use a good lay. “Shige” the phone registers instead.

“Damn it,” Koyama says. He exerted too much effort for the text to just be from Shige. But since he’s already picked up his phone, he might as well take a look at the message.

We’re hosting the dance segment for 24 Hour Television . (._.)

Koyama considers punching Shige when he sees him Thursday for photo shoots. This was all Shige had to say? He rolls his eyes and responds. I know. I was there when they told us. he types.

The next message comes almost immediately. But. It’s US. Hosting the DANCE segment.

And now Koyama knows what’s really going on. He presses the call back option and after the first ring Shige picks up.

“I’m just saying,” Shige huffs, before Koyama can get in a hello, “This has to be karma. For bitching at Tegoshi yesterday because he interrupted my studying. For stealing Massu’s nikuman the other day when he wasn’t looking. Or, or it’s just irony at its best. Irony because…DANCING.”

“Yes,” Koyama says slowly, as if to a five year old (for all Shige acts like he’s the ossan slash mature one in the group, most of the time he’s just a big baby, and Koyama knows it), “That is the whole point of the dance segment. To dance.”

There is an incredulous pause at the other end, “Why aren’t you more worried about this?”

“Shige, you’re worried because we suck, right?” Koyama lies back onto the couch and yawns, “Speak for yourself. I can hold a beat just fine.”

Shige snorts, “As if. All you do is roll your hips around like they’re wheels. I hope you’re not deluding yourself into thinking that’s actually dance-worthy.”

“I am giving you the finger right now,” Koyama says blandly. “I hope you are picturing it clearly in your mind.”

“Oh, but I am,” Shige replies. A beat. “Koyama, Ohno-kun hosted the dance segment when Arashi hosted. And he said it was hard. Ohno-kun.”

“And then the next time they hosted it was Matsujun,” Koyama retorts. Shige laughs and Koyama continues dryly, “I think we’ll be okay.” He scrunches his brow, “And when did you talk to Ohno about the dance segment? We just heard about it this morning at the meeting.”

“I bumped into Ohno-kun the other day and we talked about 24 Hour Television. And fishing, because we may go again a couple weeks from now, but, but that’s irrelevant. Anyway, he mentioned that the dance segment is pretty rough because it involves more work and rehearsal than the other portions,” Shige says, despondence laced in his last words.

Koyama smiles. He forgot how cute Shige’s panicked rants could be. Sometimes they even rival his own. “Maybe, but I still think we’ll be okay. Or maybe it’s because I haven’t thought about it clearly yet,” he says with a chuckle. Shige hums and Koyama glances at the clock. Didn’t Shige have class today? “What are you up to today?”

“Today?” Shige asks. “Nothing. I have class in a few minutes, but after that I’m done. Though I was thinking about peeling off my skin slowly to distract myself from this damned heat. It’s really boiling outside.”

They laugh and Koyama grins, “Great, because that’s what I was planning on doing, myself. Want to come over whenever you’re done?”

“Only if you feed me,” Shige says cheekily.

“But of course. I am the wife in our relationship, after all,” Koyama nods seriously.

Shige’s high pitched giggle resounds in Koyama’s ear. “And don’t you forget it,” Shige says, “See you in a couple hours. I want pasta.”

AN: Sighs, and I still fail at coming up with titles. At least some things haven’t changed lol.

Why hello there, world ::waves::
