Just a few things from an article titled, "40 things we know now...that we wish we'd known in highschool!" That I'd like to share.

1. popularity won't follow you nearly as long as a good-or-awful GPA.

3. that you will absolutely, positively feel extremely guilty over anyone you picked on.

6. no one is looking at you as closely as you are looking at yourself. those extra 20 minutes painting your nails and fixing your hair could be used for getting some sleep.

8. you will never have a job just to cover gas money, concert tickets and clothes again.

11. smart people are funnier then dumb people. smart people may not always be funny, but funny people are always smart.

12. that when people say these are the best years of your life they mean it but not for the reasons you might think. they're the best years of your life because -regardless of how worldy or jaded you think you are- you're still open to life. Never again will someone's saying hello to you in a hallway make your spirit soar.

14. Being  friendly beats- being stuck up or cooly aloof or quirky -everytime.

17. If you play around with smoking cigarettes, you might get hooked and have to spend enormous sums of money to feed your habit and enormous sums of energy to quit. (a little more motivation: 3 packs a day at $3 each equals $3285 a year. that's enough money for a car.)

18. no one is thinking about you as often as you are thinking about yourself.

19. there is a world beyond bakersfield or california or the U.S. learn as much about it as you can. its the only way you'll move comfortably and confidently throughout life.

21. Anyone can have sex. It's not a talent, a skill, and definitely not something worth bragging about.

24. where you go to college isn't nearly as important as what you do when you get there.

25. the motivations behind political correctness are admirable but the logic isn't unassailable. its ok to question the stuff that doesn't feel true.

26. someday you will be sitting at your 70 hour a week job thinking that those teachers you mocked actually have it pretty good: 3 months of vacation and a job that REALLY matters.

27. You don't forget your First love but you do STOP loving them.

28. you can survive a weekend night alone. being happy in your own company ensures hapiness for the long haul.

29. A loud car stereo is just that. Quite overrated.

30. you regret the things you didn't do the most in life.

33. time spent gossiping will make you feel pretty bad about yourself. the people you respect the most probably don't stoop to that level.

35. you will regret not standing up for things-or people- you believe in.

37. You will be fogiven for many things. YET one stupid decision--unprotected sex, driving drunk, doing drugs, or commiting a crime--can alter your life.

38. its easier to learn now then spend the rest of your life trying to fill in those educational gaps.

40. Someday the thought , "Do they like me?" will be replaced with, "Do I like me?"
