I don't even remember where UCD is. But consider yourself lucky it's not all the way up in Glasnevin where DCU is... it was such a bitch to catch the buses, so unreliable. There were many times when it wasn't even worth going to class, we'd be so late.

Temple Bar is a bit more pricy than some of the other off-street pubs. But sadly, 5 euro for a pint is pretty much the norm. Sometimes you can get 'em for about 4.70, but by that point, the thirty cents is just another drop in the very, very large and expensive bucket.

Our usual method was to buy a bottle at the SPAR and get good and drunk before we even set foot in the pub.

My usual haunts were the Camden Palace and Flannery's, right across the road from eachother on Camden Street. We lived just off Camden, which is the street that Momo's is on (after it changes names at least three times), so they were the most convenient.

I saw photos of your place! A Georgian door, you lucky duck. What street is it on?

It didn't take me too long to adjust, I don't think. Although I couldn't pinpoint a moment where it happened, it was just an evolution. Having a place to live really, really helped.

When my friend Zoe and I first arrived in Dublin, we didn't have a place to live. We stayed in a hostel for about five days while we frantically searched for an apartment. We got turned down by at least 30 different places, and went to a bunch of viewings.

But when we got settled in, things were definitely easier. There were 30 people living in the building, all sharing the same kitchen and living room. The rooms slept four people, furnished with two bunkbeds.

While it was really crowded and chaotic, it was a great way to meet people in the house. I think that once you've settled in and met some people from class, the adjusting will be easier. It was for me.

If you want to look at my Dublin blog, it's at http://a_naoi.livejournal.com. I'll have to friend you so you can get access to most of the entries.

That first day when we arrived in Dublin, though, was probably the most frightening day of my life.

I live on Upper Lesson St, so it's a little far from the city center. UCD is way the hell out there, so I have to take a bus to class everyday.

I keep hearing that people don't go to class here nearly as often as they did back home. Was that true for you?

Oh, wow. Yeah. That's out of my jurisdiction. We could usually walk everywhere, but took buses to the school.

And yes, it is true. School was like a big weird joke. In our classes, we just had to turn in one 2,000 word paper at the end of each course. And that was it. No tests, no other assignments.

It seemed like alot of the students didn't even respect the lecturer, which really bugged me, but I didn't really hang around school too much save for classes.

Even my friend and I, as academically dedicated and hardworking as we are at MCAD, slid into the slump. Of course, profuse drinking didn't exactly help, but.
