I've just come back from a screening of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Without spoiling anything, I'll tell all of you that a lot has been excised from the book. A lot of characters do not even make a cameo. Having said that, those that do show up are fabulous. And the movie is a lot funnier than I expected it to be. All the technical stuff was excellent, but we all expected that I think.
Daniel has really grown in this one. Watch out for the Cedric death scene and the bathtub scene. I'm hoping this doesn't sound too pervy, but I have to say that is one good-looking torso.
Despite getting the color of Hermione's gown wrong, Emma shines in the whole Yule Ball scene. There's one particular part where she tells off Ron and Harry, and she sits down on the stairs and takes off her shoe to massage her foot. That scene felt so real to me, because, seriously, who hasn't done that during a dance before?
I love Rupert. I seriously do. When you see him in bed, wearing a wifebeater, it does so many wrong things to your system. And, shesh, he practically exudes Ron Weasley by now.
Ralph Fiennes' Voldemort wasn't what I imagined it to be, but all that proved is that my imagination sucks big time, because the way they made Voldemort look was awesome.
All the older actors performed well, as expected, although I have a special affection for Miranda Richardson. Her Rita Skeeter is so wicked, I ended up liking her character if I had already read the book.
There were two guys who really came into their own in GoF, and those two have got to be James and Oliver Phelps. I swear, seeing the two together requires lots of cold showers. And they work so well as comedic relief/lovable pranksters/charming jokesters. In one scene where Fred asks Angelina to the ball and he winks at the camera...sinful, I swear.
ETA: Happy belated birthday to
kerryblaze! :D
