It's so warm inside my apartment right now that I'm utterly sleepy. I had a late lunch and read a book I picked up this afternoon in the pulsating heat of my apartment.
Now that I've finished the book, One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost, which was a great read, I'm trying to wake up a bit and failing miserably.
I'm not looking forward to tomorrow at work, because if it's been this hot in my apartment all weekend, that means my office is an oven. It will remain an oven through at least all day tomorrow.
This weekend, I watched six different DVD's
1.
I Could Never Be Your Woman, which despite starring
Paul Rudd, who I adore, was utter crap. Don't watch it...do not waste your time. Though little
Saoirse Rowan was good as the daughter, and it was nice to see her in something other than
Atonement. And it's to her credit that I thought she was a British child.
2. Next was
Death at a Funeral, rented because of my love for
Alan Tudyk, who spends a fair amount of time naked on screen and it was pleasant viewing.
I met him last summer in the DFW airport when he was heading back to LA from a trip promoting this movie. It's a dark comedy, but I found it funny and it has a stellar cast.
3. Then was
The Lookout, which I thought was quite well done.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, an actor who has always interested me, gives an amazing performance and
Matthew Goode was also quite intriguing in his role as Gary.
4. After that came the very enjoyable, if a bit fluffy,
The Jane Austen Book Club, which featured the delightful eye candy of
Hugh Dancy,
Kevin Zegers, and
Marc Blucas. My favorite performances in the film were given by
Emily Blunt and
Maggie Grace, but I really enjoyed everyone.
5.
Gone Baby Gone was next on the list, and I enjoyed this one more than I'd thought I would. Ultimately it's a very sad story, though.
Ben Affleck did a great job though, especially for a first film.
6. Last was
Michael Clayton, which I enjoyed but not as much as I expected. Perhaps I let hype filter into my brain too much, because while I thought it was a good movie. I didn't think it was all that and a bag of chips, too.
