State of the Becky
I caught the first showing of Becoming Jane today, and enjoyed it quite a bit. It's got a very strong cast, and everyone does a lovely job. I continue to be charmed by James McAvoy, just like I thought he was excellent in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
Afterwards, I popped into the office to do a quick bit of work that will make tomorrow much easier for me, since my boss is out of the office tomorrow.
I've been quiet on lj lately mostly because I haven't wanted to delve into the absolute mess that is my parents. They're in midst of an ugly divorce and on top of that is my dad being treated for stage 3 melanoma, which he seems to be using for leverage in the divorce case. My mother hasn't been innocent of wrongdoings, either and it's just getting exhausting. It's been almost a full year since this all began and I'm getting worn out.
Then there's the entire job search front. It's sporadic and not going well, and I'm feeling entirely unemployable.
All in all, this has turned out to be a bit of a shitty year so far....but I have hope for the end of it.
