Mistral's Kiss
So today on my lunch break I picked up a copy of Laurell K. Hamilton's latest book, "Mistral's Kiss." I enjoyed the read...finished it in about 2.5 hours tonight because it was only 212 pages long!!! Do you know how short that is for a hardcover novel?!? A short hardcover novel of J.D. Robb's, "Born in Death" was at least 350 pages or so. This one felt like she was just rushing to get a book out by a deadline to me...essentially that she'd progressed the story just half or a third as much as her earlier books.
The one consolation was that while yes, there was a lot of sex/porn moments in this one, at least the story did progress more than the storyline of her Anita Blake books did in the last book of that series. I'm not mad I bought the hardcover or anything, but I wish she'd taken more time and made a more complete novel out of it, but I'm sure the money was nice to get it out in Dec. and quickly.
