I made a fatal mistake in the last couple of days. I was told that we were having a meeting to discuss the problems that we are having at work with Senior management and that they were trying to fix the problems. This statement was entirely true. However I let optimism get the better of me and assumed that they would be putting in some sort of effort towards not shafting us as much as they currently are. I discovered through the meeting that they are not going to stop shafting us, they are just planning on shafting us in a different way.
Thankfully (for management) I will not be at the meeting on monday night when they reveal their plans to the masses.
The response should be interesting because the actualy news was quite well hidden within the layers of sugar with which it was coated. Admittedly there are good and bad points to the new arrangements that will be introduced, however I consider that the bad will outweigh the good. (in that things will be largely the same).
Suffice to say that many people will not wish to go bac kto working 20 hours a week as in most cases this is insufficient to sustain them. Also the prospect of several more Fixed Term Hire jobs is probably not all that likely to help, since Fix Term hire is actually worse then being a casual for most people, because you cant pick your shifts, you are payed a lower rate, you work a fixed amount of hours and you are locked into working (bending over) here for 2 years. Hence I think we shall see the Exodus continue.
