Don't get HyperX. Go 2GB of Corsair TwinX. Audigy is fine as long as a) he buys creative digital speakers, or b) doesn't bother with digital. Processor is a good choice, these other two must be either jealous or on the Intel payroll ;-). The rest looks nice, just make sure you get one BEHEMOTH of a power supply (at LEAST 400W, preferably 550W, BRAND-NAME WITH WARRANTY!). Another thing is cooling. I can personally recommend:

Also you might want to take a look at:

Good hunting. Out.

I'd have to agree on the RAM call my anonymous. Its too damn proprietory. The 1gb is enough if you go for fast stuff, I'd say twinx.

Hatred of AMD is born of familiarity, not jealousy.

The power supply is sound advice, and definitely worth focusing on. I would almost say that the 550w is a requirement, given the amount of juice a 6800 likes to suck down.

Interesting that you talk cooling Mr Anonymous since I have never had a need for cooling anything, although I have only goine up to a P4 3.2ghz. Must be one of theose AMD things ;)

I have a good quality 19" flat screen. I have no wish to spend the money necessary to get a similar quality - and size - flat screen monitor.

To get one with a decent refresh rate is just still too dear. I want a new PC yeah, but I don't want to spend too much just now.

While the lure of PCI-Express is great, AGP is still the safe and cheap option. By all means go the PCI Express, but I think you can safely wait until the next upgrade :)

As long as you have a decent montior it's cool. We're just looking out for you best interests!

AGP, PCI Express I dont think you'll see as much of a performance difference as you will a price difference, it all depends how much power u wanted from it.

I dunno why you guys hate AMD I've never had a problem with them.

The Audigy should be good, its got by far the best sound quality of anything in its price range the real downfall is the weird non-digital digital output, apparently it uses a weird 3 phase system developed by Creative, works fine with THEIR hardware but not with anything else. So if u want digital sounds then either use the onboard soundcard or u have to use creative speakers (Which I've found are quite good anyway).

2 Gig of Ram is probably a good idea and yeah definitly dont go with the hyper X apparently there are some issues with getting hold of it in Australia at the moment. 2 gig of corsair would be pretty nice ;)
