TBR Game Report

The con was an absolute blast and once more everyone I knew online was even better in person. I've got personal memories and quotes to share at some point but for now let's go with a run down of the games.

Slot One was In Her Shoes, my first game co-GMing with my lovely wife adpaz. The next time around we've got some timing issues we'd work on but on the whole it went quite well.

Lessons learned: Give them time to savor the insanity, people that don't trust each other insist on the group sticking together, and Fiona in a tutu is comedy gold.

Slot Two was my Ambercon debut GMing solo, A Simple Task, Well Rewarded. It went pretty much as expected except for the parts where it didn't. I think I need to spice up the center a bit but otherwise a fine trek through various shadows in pursuit of the simple task.

Lessons learned: Everyone digs the casino of evil and winged monkeys are less effective than one might think.

Slot Three was Glenn Seymour and his Mark of Benedict where we learn what life was like when Benedict was a moody teenager. This was a great little romp which reaffirms the age old adage that young people with great power is a bad, bad combo.

Lessons learned: Spending 99% of your points in warfare is unwise, spikards are way cool, and having your arm set on fire should be a clear sign to stop playing with the altar.

Slot Four: Nine Kobolds in Trouble in which we got to see immlass's inner child and then eat it. Michael handled the "plot" while Ginger handled the rolling up of emergency back-up kobolds (this happened often) and tempted us into doing stupid (and fun) things. A game so wrong it was right. I am proud of only having to replace my character once though Kris wins the prize for actually keeping his original kobold through the whole thing.

Lessons learned: There is no problem a frying pan to the noggin can't fix, baby unicorn is quite tasty, and crap is definitely not a cry of respect.

Slot Five: The Year Everything Changed. A neat little set-up by J.P. Brennan. He clearly had a goal he was going for at the end but it was great fun helping to add spice and flavor to twhat would otherwise be a footnote to his alternate history.

Lessons learned: the keys to longevity are loyalty to Oberon and espresso, shooting people in the face is a less effective strategy than one might think, and getting stabbed with a flaming sword is not always a bad thing.
