Good lord, I am behind. I've forgotten some of the books I've read since the 26th of July. Here's what I do remember, though.
39: Kushiel's Justice by Jacqueline Carey
This is definitely my favorite of the two Imriel books. Not that I didn't love the first, because it was fantastic and made the transition from Phedre's voice to Imriel's incredibly smoothly, but this one had a much deeper emotional impact for me. This is the fifth book in the Terre d'Ange world, and she's showing no signs of Robert Jordaning, which thrills me beyond my ability to express using mere words. If the quality of the writing and the storytelling remain this high, I could happily read century upon century of stories in this series.
40: Belladonna by Anne Bishop
I worried that I'd waited too long after reading Sebastian to read this and that I'd be lost as a result, but everything came back with no difficulty. Glorianna Belladonna is a fascinating character, and I wish we'd seen more of what made her the person she is. I suppose what I really want is a prequel, because this book started and ended in exactly the right places. I just want more of her story. I loved this book.
41: Every Which Way But Dead by Kim Harrison
I absolutely love the Rachel Morgan books. Kim Harrison does a fantastic job of putting together fantasy, mystery, and the occasional sex scene. And her characters are people I'd want to know if they existed outside the pages of the books. Especially Kisten. Dear god.
