After a year in my apartment, I still don't have shelves for my CDs and DVDs. I want to have something made for them actually, but don't have the money right now.

Ooh, something custom made would be lovely! What is your dream shelf-y thing like? Would it be simple or ornate? What would it be made of? I love hearing about people's furniture loves. :)

It would definitely be simple, probably made of wood, birch possibly. I'm sort of undecided on the material, though. I'm contemplating glass doors as well for dust protection, but we'll see.

Dust protection is a marvelous thing! I've decided I quite like birch. I've always loved darker woods, but since moving into an apartment with windows in only two rooms, I've become rather fond of lighter colors. Birch is especially pretty.

My thoughts exactly! I wish we lived in the same town, so we could do decorating and furniture shopping together.

Oh, that would be so much fun! It's always cool to see other people's ideas. My friends come up with things that would never have occurred to me, or they point out things I wouldn't have seen otherwise. It's especially fun to shop and with people with similar taste because then you don't find yourself trying to come up with a tactful way to say, "That is the most hideous green, pink, and orange striped fake fur pillow I have ever seen so I don't think I'll be buying that, thank you."

Although actually, I might be tempted by a greeen, pink, and orange striped fake fur cushion. Possibly.
