My Bullety, Listy Week.

Sep 29, 2005 12:35

  • Monday was nice. I spent a large part of the evening curled up with a cat, watching television shows. And I had loads of olives, which satisfied my bizarre, once-quarterly food cravings, and tasty sandwiches for dinner. This made me very, very happy.
  • I went to Carl Hiaasen's book signing thingy on Tuesday. I love his books, and I very much ( Read more... )

I am a big Hiassen fan, too. Have you read Dave Barry and Tim Dorsey's books? If you like Hiassen, you'll love them.

About the compliments...probably having Noir rub his noggin against my leg and do the whistle-purr. Best lifetime compliment was from a guy from the Church of Christ who was trying to recruit me to a prayer meeting, when he found himself under my theological bombardment...he literally ran away, pausing to yell "You think too much!"

I haven't read Barry or Dorsey, but I'm adding them to my list. What do you like about them?

Oh, the whistle-purr! Excellent.

"You think too much!"

Oh. My. GOD. *shriek*

They have that very funny, "Ain't Florida crazy?" style of writing. Great crime capers, zany characters. Barry's use of language is really first-rate. Dorsey turns a nice phrase, with his weakness being that he relies too much on making fun of stock characters by overusing them.

All have great little twists here and there.

- I do love a bulleted list, myself.
- Hate olives.
- Love pink.
- Yesterday, someone told me, in a way that I knew they weren't kidding or being sarcastic, they said "You're my hero."

  • Ah, the bullety listy thing. I am all about lists. I make lists of lists that need to be made. And a list with bullets is the ultimate in listy glory. :)
  • I did, too, until very recently. I still don't like black olives, but green ones make my world a happy place. Especially green ones with bleu cheese stuffed inside.
  • You should see this sweater. It is truly fantabulous in its pinkosity. (Pinkosity is my current favorite made-up word.)
  • Wow. That's really cool. It must have felt really good to hear that.

My husband told me yesterday (and today again) that I was the best wife in all catagories he could ever have asked for. *awwww*

I got an ovation for all the work I've done on the finance conference this morning.

A couple of hours later someone in the same group bitched because I ordered salad for lunch, though, so that sortof negated the whole thing.

Oh, that rocks. Feels good to have your work recognized, doesn't it. The salad bitching? I bet it wouldn't have mattered what you'd ordered. That was probably someone who bitches for the joy of bitching. I'd ignore that and just enjoy the praise. :)

Compliments? You picked the right week to ask...

I was in a wedding party last Saturday and we were all in full kilted regalia. According to several people I a) looked the most comfortable and natural in kilts and b) I looked hott (or handsome depending on the age of the complimentor) in same.
