God, even though Uhura cares for him, I feel like she is being so incredibly selfish right now. Spock is going through turmoil, something he is in no way prepared for, and all she can think about is how it affects her :( I like how you are highlighting these bits where Kirk cares enough to adjust the temperature to Spock's needs, and Uhura, who is supposed to love him, doesn't. Subtle, but so clear at the same time.

She's not paying attention quite right, having been shut off so long. I'm wondering if he was always a bit more open with her than with Kirk, and so under the current circumstances, Kirk can read Spock better than Uhura. Well, I'm glad you thought it worked.

That makes sense, she's probably never had to work at trying to figure him out; if he'd previously been more forth coming. I can see how that would be confusing for her, especially considering their relationship. I'd be hurt and confused if my significant other suddenly stopped putting in an effort, add two months of no sex, refusing to have dinner with me but okay with having dinner w/ someone else and then top that off with a significant, if not fatal, medical issue. I'd have serious reservations too. Of course now she can't break up with him, because he's the "hurt" party. Talk about being in an unpleasant position, poor Nyota. She is trying to be supportive, though, even through all that.

Exactly. Things are coming to a head, though it's not quite out of the blue. Spock's as lost or more lost than she is, but that doesn't make the situation any more excusable.

Oh man, this confusion and all is such a mess and messing with my head, and I'm resorting to reading to help destress me from my studies, but I'm just feeling the same as when the lecturer we got for the module speaks in a heavily accented voice... It's like.... "what? What was that? huh?" but you sorta get it, but like you don't get it at the same time.... I think, perhaps this is how Uhura is feeling...

Just, frustrated. For both of them.

Very frustrating. Everyone is very confused right now and no one is thinking clearly. But if they were thinking clearly the story wouldn't be half as fun. I hope it comes clear in time for you.

Awkward ;) I love awkward... anonymous September 23 2011, 15:17:22 UTC
From the sensationally awkward wing examination and subsequent inappropriate orgasm (poor Spock) to the emotionally awkward scene between Nyota and Spock at the end ( ... )

The whole situation is quite awkward. But I hate stories that just dump Uhura out of hand so I had to set up the awkwardness so that everything would have a realistic basis for the fallout. There will be a bit of hate, but I think they'll both sort it out in the end. Or rather, the sequel. But I'm glad you're liking things to date.

Sounds like there has been a lot of assuming on both sides. Ass of U and Me needs to come to a screeching halt - unless it would prevent K/S at some near point in the future. I'd apologize for the selfish, but I'm not really feeling sorry - I want what I want. And ZQ is incredibly gorgeous with just ears, add wings and irresistible is barely adequate word.

There are a lot of assumptions and a fair amount of anger to sort out later. But K/S is a given to me and it will be a fun ride. And the image of Spock with wings was just too tempting for me too.
