Misunderstood

Another piece for the prompt table I posted HERE. Check it out. I'm running out of suggestions, so please, give me more.

The prompt from cmzero was Misunderstood where Kaylee from Firefly and my original character Kaylee got mixed up. I do hope this fits what you were thinking.

Title: Misunderstood
Author: triskellion
Rating: G
Warning: None
Word Count: 212
Summary: A moment of confusion when Sesquelearus visits Serenity.

“Kaylee!!” The yell came through both doors to the kitchen, quickly followed by the appearance of Mal at the door to the cockpit and Jayne at the door to the hold.

“What in the tyen shiao-duh is wrong with my ship?” bellowed Mal even as Jayne yelled, “What did you do to my kao weights?”

The ship's engineer, bubbly personality, and all-around sweetheart, Kaylee, was sitting at the end of the table nearest the hold. She turned to Jayne and assured him, “I haven't touched your weights. Perhaps Simon borrowed them and put them back out of order.”

The ship's passenger, fairy godmother, and all-around helper, Kaylee, was sitting at the end of the table nearest the cockpit, turned to Mal at the same time and said, “I've hardly used magic since I came on board. I haven't done anything to your precious ship.”

The immediate response from both men was a well timed, “Not you. Her,” as they pointed at the far end of the table.

The two women looked at each other and shared a smirk that was becoming all too familiar to the crew of Serenity. Together they said, “Well, why didn't you say so?” before standing and crossing the room, the engineer to fix Mal's ship, the passenger to fix Jayne's weights.
