A snippit from my Ober Fic of Doom

Ah, I finally got the blasted thing out of my system. This story has been haunting me for about a week. Inspired by the Blue drabble from the Black Pearls Sails yahoo group.

Title: The Blue Sea
Author: triskellion

Disclaimers: The Black Pearl and her captain belong to the mouse. Kaylee and her world belongs to me.

Previous snippits from Kaylee’s story are here, here, and here.

She always loves it when, every few years, the Council meets in a city by the sea. Unlike many of the other members, she always prefers to Teleport somewhere outside the Council building and take in a least some of the sights available. But those sessions are always something special.

Her eyes close as the first breath of sea air takes her back to a simpler time. The sound of the waves upon the shore reminds her of before she was Sesquelearus Estus’t’estus, head of the Council and the voice of The Lady to the world, back when she was simply Kaylee, a pirate on the Black Pearl. For a moment she forgets the heavy robes and turns about, searching for the snap of the lines and the sails with her ears, and the sight of the Captain at the wheel.

Sadly, the feeling is always lost after that first moment. Something about the sea doesn’t smell the same; perhaps there is too much salt, or too little. When she opens her eyes, she is reminded that the waves before her are never quite the right shade of blue and green for the Caribbean. And there is never any sign of black sails on the horizon.

Yet, for that one instant of finding the pirate beneath the good woman, she will always love when the Council meets in a city by the sea.

writing, kaylee
