My hubby D has been off work this week with a chest infection and a touch of pneumonia, he was given meds to clear it up but they didn't seem to be helping that much. Today he had to go back to the doc's for a check-up and was in the surgery for ages. He has now been given a home nebulizer and told to up the steroid medication he was given as the ( Read more... )

He is far better off not having the flu injection as it is last year or even year before strain. By the time it's mutated and gone round the UK and then some this year hardly anyone is protected by a year old vaccine. The last thing anyone needs is to be given last years flu on top of pneumonia even if it is in a small dose. The best thing for him is to do everything his doctors said and to boost his immune system with very warm baths. Healthy foods (soup for when he cannot eat all the time as he needs to keep his strength up) sleep when needed but not all the time. Not to over exert himself but keep slightly active even if it is only something simple like walking to the bottom of the garden. Keep his vitamin C levels up as well as fluid intake, but no alcohol.
Hope he recovers asap

Thanks for the extra tips AZ *hugs* I've actually made a pan of homemade soup for him as it's all he's eating at the moment. I'll try to talk him into the warm baths as he's a shower person and dislike's taking a bath. I'll let you know how I get on.

Showers can be good as the steam can act like a decongestant, but of he is stood up too long it may weaken him so a very warm bath may be a better idea. They're supposed to get the immune system kicking. If all he can manage atthe moment is liquids try fruit smoothies least that way he is getting his vitamins.

Hey Dee home Big Momma recovers asap
