If I was really serious about this, I would straight up take notes while reading.

One other recommendation: It's more prose than story, and you're never ever in your entire life going to find a printed version, but you need to check out "The Adventures of Tom Bombadil" by, obviously, John Tolkien ( ... )

I dunno, I'm not a big fan of his work, tbh. One line that I did really like was "My hands were torn and my knees worn, and years were heavy upon my back."

Easy, I find Tolkien's style of writing to be absolutely exhausting. I like writing that puts me there, not writing that just reminds me I am reading a book. Idk if that makes a lot of sense or not.

Don't tell Cassie I don't like Tolkien.

LOLOL.

It's kind of funny in a way, as both "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" are written in such a way that they're supposed to be books penned by characters within the books. He's got some other fiction out there that I'm ashamed to have not read yet, but perhaps I'll check it out and let you know if it's less booky than the above.

Funnily enough, even the poem above is supposedly penned by Frodo in the margins of the red book of westmarch.

Strange! I won't lie; I do love The Hobbit. It was one of the first books I read that really made me love reading. Otherwise though... : )
