well! i left last wednesday for auckland and my big day out mission. it took us like almost 2 hours to get from the airport into the city! the traffic was awful. tammi began whinging as soon as we got on the plane, and didn't stop until i left work on saturday night.
wednesday night me, tammi nat and scott just got drunk at our backpackers and went for a walk up queen street, round the viaduct basin and whatnot. saw many homeless crazies. thursday we all went to onehunga and to dressmart and bought lots of stuff.. went to iko iko and the illicit store. so many emos.
guy and jess arrived into auckland that afternoon and we went to the sky tower at about 8pm. it was really fun. tammi continued to whinge. we drank cocktails in the sky bar, then went back to our rooms to sleep because we were so exhausted!
woke up disgustingly early on friday.. woke up nat and scott.. then we had some breakfast and headed up to real groovy to catch the bus with the masses.
arrived at the stadium around 11 something i think.. or maybe earlier. waited to get in for about half an hour. the lines were massive.
it was not what i expected. not a very easy lay out to navigate at first. most of the early afternoon was spent walking around, getting some food and some t shirts. nat and scott went off to watch my chemical romance at about 3.30 and i dragged tammi off to the boiler room to see some of lily allen's set. it was very dubby/reggae funk. nice and relaxing to dance to. tammi continued to whinge. tam and i went on some rides, walked around some more, then found nat and scott again. i can't remember what happened but we somehow lost nat and scott and went down to the mainstage, sat on the grass and watched jet. then moved up as close as we could in anticipation of the killers about half an hour before they began.
tammi didn't stop grizzling. i snapped at her because it was so annoying. complaining that she couldn't see because she is short. i said 'there are plenty of people here who are shorter than you and they're dealing with it'. i pulled that card out a few times. the killers started late and the sound was awful.
they only had 3 friggen speaker stacks on the side of the stage. 3 in total. i doubt that anyone behind us could've heard much. let alone the thousands more even further back.
but aside from the quiet sound, the killers were incredible. i sort of saw it, between views getting blocked by numerous tall guy's heads. but it was ok. brandon flowers is a beautiful man. and a good performer. they started with sam's town and when you were young, played some old stuff. everyone went apeshit when mr brightside came on. i got really aggressive with people trying to push me around and push past me when there was no room. i'm usually so quiet and reserved, but i hate being in those situations. why was i that far in the crowd, i hear you ask? because i wanted to actually see it and hear it.
muse came on after the killers, the crowd surged toward the orange stage and i told tammi we should get out and watch from somewhere else. she said she wanted to stay, because she's a selfish bitch. says she has problems with people being too close to her and getting pushed around, but if it's something she wants, then it's fine. i told her i doubted she could handle it, but left anyway. this really nice guy behind me offered to push his way through the crowd so i could follow him and get out because no one wanted to move out of the way.
since i was now free of other people telling me where they wanted to go, i went to watch the streets. they were awesome. only stayed for about half an hour, then made my way back for tool. i got a pretty decent spot to the left side of the stage right in front of the speakers. awesome set. breath taking. serj from system of a down made a guest appearance during sober. maynard said they should be back at the end of the year. it was perfect.
found tammi and left on a bus back to the city.
i think tammi was a little jealous because i had a better spot during tool than she did. she told me that she left the muse crowd just after i left because she couldn't hack it. ha. what did i say?
she was in the stands for tool and didn't have a terribly clear view of what was going on onstage, and the acoustics in the stands were awful so it would've sounded shit. i think she didn't really hear much because she wasn't even aware of serj's appearance. silly bitch. she shouldn't have been so selfish and stuck with me. mostly because i am clever and know my shit. been to an unbelievable amount of shows for someone so young.

i think if i go next year, i will probably go alone. it wasn't a very scary place to be when i was alone. i didn't feel threatened by anyone. it seemed like most were there just to have a good time. and i preferred my loner status, because i was free to roam and choose the best spots.
it was definitely an experience. my body is still sore from it all!
the highlight of my weekend has been seeing rich after 3 days apart. i bought him a tool t shirt and burberry brit for men while i was away and he loved them both. :) i missed him so much.. a retarded amount. i cried a couple of times when i was away because it was so hard being away from him.
lame!
