I had a very good and productive day. I haven't had such a great day in a while actually. I met up with my friend
Calvin(you can also find him
here at his awesome website)for lunch. We had talked about getting together for some time now, and just never did, but over the course of the past few days, we have been talking, and decided to get out and do something. He treated me to a great sushi lunch, and that was followed by coffee. Today was my day off, and even though he had school, he sort of blew it off to chill with me all afternoon. Seriously, how fucking sweet. I am emailing him after I write this, to tell him to check it out, and I hope I don't make him blush too much, but seriously folks, I have been needing to hang out with someone like him for a while now. We chilled out at
PNCA, where he goes to school, and just being there inspired me (we didn't even look around. We just lounged about, but just being in a school got my blood pumping). Calvin is all sorts of neat, and after talking about jobs, life, art, food, and what have you, he has me all inspired to get off my ass and do something. Hopefully we will have more hang out sessions soon, because today was near perfect.
He finally decided to get productive, and I left him to his painting, and went around downtown to
Just Be where I found these things that are going on my wishlist:
(and some other stuff, but their store won't load for me to show you what I want). There were some other Stussy items, and high top Nikes and Vans I was dying to buy.
I also stopped by
Upper Playground, where I found these things to put on my wishlist:
(The squares are t-shirt designs)
I came home and was totally lazy. I was (am) terribly crampy, and feel sort of sick. I called my mom and we talked about school and work. Even though it's been on my mind for a while now, it helped to hang out with Calvin today to further my motivation to take some art classes. I talked at length to my mom about fascinated I am in graffiti (not someone's name sprawled on a bathroom wall, but something unique and interesting) and how I need to get my hand on some books about it, and how I want to get out and take photos of all the great graffiti around PDX. I also expressed my interest in street fashion, mixed media, and urban art to her, and she seemed to be actually interested and happy in what I was telling her. I am all sorts of excited. Plus, I had to throw in to her that I desperately want a Holga, a typography book, and some Prismacolor markers for my 23rd birthday in 2 months. That's highly unlikely, but a girl can dream. I think my mom is just excited that I want to make art, and it made her a little motivated to get back to her painting too.
So all in all, a wonderful day. I took a walk around my area this evening, and came across a pile of wood, and took some to use as part of my collage/mixed media I am planning to work on tonight. I was lame and didn't buy the pink spray paint at Fred Meyer, and now I don't think the paint I do have will work. Sucky. I also got my old copies of
Nylon together, to go through and make a piece based on street fashion to hang up in my sewing area as my form of inspiration. Speaking of street fashion and Nylon, I am dying to get my hands on this:
And as if I didn't already throw in a million links with this post, here are a few artists I currently love, that you all need to check out:

By the way, soon I will be over at
Blogger & this is where I will be posting photos of street fashion and artists I am currently into. And hopefully soon I will have a digital camera to post photos of stuff I am doing. I also got a
