Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Norman Jayden is an FBI agent, one who specializes in behavior profiling of criminals. Because of this, he has all the training of the FBI behind him, which means he knows legal procedures, how to handle various types of weapons, and because of his behavioral profiling work, he is smart and capable of getting into someone’s head and finding out what makes them tick. He is physically fit; he can chase down a suspect when they’re on the run, and he can talk someone out of doing something rash, as long as the person is capable of hearing the logic and reason in what he says.
He’s capable in hand to hand combat, and has a knowledge of different type of weapons; guns, mostly, but also in using knives as well. He is technology savvy, and is extremely good at using computers and hacking into files if need be. Everything that Jayden can do is only heightened by his continued use of the ARI, a piece of technology that helps store data and Jayden uses to help solve cases.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them?
Jayden will be developing powers in Siren's Port that are similar to what the ARI does for him; gather information, and then display it for him at will. Just like the ARI, this ability will only develop as he learns information; there will be no database for him to tap into beyond the one in his own mind. Information will be added as he gains it himself. An example would be if he read a file with information filled about Raul Creed, when he meets the man, a picture of him with all his information would be on the right side, trailing down with all the information that Norman Jayden knows about him. If Jayden met Tenma for the first time and did not know anything about him, all he would see is a picture of him and information added as he talked to him and got to know him.
Like the ARI, it cannot make connections for him when it comes to evidence on a case, but it can present as much as it sees that is possible. Once Jayden learns how to control this ability, he will be able to call it up whenever he wants, instead of it just popping up in his head and him unable to do anything about it.
Weapons: Jayden will be arriving with his FBI service revolver on him, a Swiss army pocket knife, and the ARI; this is made up of a glove and a pair of sunglasses.
ARI or Added Reality Interface, is an experimental evidence detecting system that the FBI is testing, and Norman is one of the testers of this product. To quote from the wiki article about the ARI: "The equipment consists of a pair of glasses, acting as a visual enhancement visor, where it is able to detect and record information from the environment. Also included is a single right-handed glove that, when worn, allows the user to physically interact with evidence, that can in moments stream instant information about the evidence the glove touches, such as discovering blood type, shoe-make and identifying scents in the air. ARI is able to do this, through small sensors located on the finger shafts, tips and the palm of the glove. It also seems that all gathered information is installed directly into ARI's internal memory which can be reviewed at any place or time."
Other uses for the ARI can be searching through case files, testing fingerprints and other evidence, and can also be used for recreational purposes; there are several games that Norman can play using the ARI, much like a computer simulation. Because of where he is, Jayden will not be connected to the American FBI database, so while any information he has found is stored within the ARI, he cannot check it with the FBI database.
He will also be arriving with three vials of triptocaine on him, which is a blue drug in a glass vial.
History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History:

Point in Canon:After being told by Blake that he’s no longer on the Origami Killer case.
Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history: N/A
Character Personality: Norman, whether he is on the job, or off of it, manages to stay relatively the same in how he acts and thinks. No matter the situation, he manages to stay calm and collected, and it takes a lot to make him express anger to other people that he might usually keep hidden. However, this does not mean that Norman is stone cold in his emotions and the way he expresses himself. He is able to be surprised, and doesn’t always roll well with the punches that life might throw at him. While being calm and focused on the tasks at hand, he is very analytical, focusing on the facts rather than the emotions; he can be very sarcastic and snippy at times, though, especially if he doesn’t like the person he’s talking with.
Being a behavioral profiler, Norman is always studying people, but most of all, he tries to relate to people. If the situation calls for it, he’ll try to be funny, with varying results. Norman is very much a person who is reluctant to get violent no matter who he is dealing with; a suspect, or even a fellow cop. He is the kind of person who gives someone the benefit of the doubt before all of the evidence is put out on the table, and he always seems to think that someone is always willing to resolve things without having them escalate out of hand. That doesn’t mean that he isn’t prepared for when it does become difficult and violence is called for.
As stated before, Norman is not one to go to violence or even yelling in anger. He does have a break point though, like everyone else does; it just takes him longer to get to it than other people. He swears when he’s angry, raising his voice, and is even prone to bouts of concentrated frustration where he will have to lash out. This is not a huge thing, though, and usually only results in flipping a chair out of anger, or knocking a lamp out of the way. He is not one to take his actual, physical anger out on another person, and to get him to do so would have to take him already being pushed to the edge previously. Most likely than not, when angry with a person, he’ll be bringing out the big guns; in his case, these are the cold hard facts and evidence of what is going on in that situation right that second. That is usually enough to snap a person out of whatever violence they might attempt, and to calm him down as well; Norman finds comfort in information.
One of the biggest facets of his personality is the fact that Norman is very much the good cop in any partnership. He is the kind of person who will go and follow the rules, and mostly follow them by the book. While he is not someone who will deliberately break the rules or the law, he doesn’t take long in deciding to follow and join whomever he happens to be a partner with who does break a few of the rules. He is not an idealist when it comes to things; he knows how the real world operates, though some of it still shocks him enough to voice his opinions against it. One thing that he will never do, however, is anything that would count as unlawful harm against someone who is innocent. Even if his partner goes and starts to harm someone who is obviously innocent, he will try and calm the situation down with words, and then become physically involved if need be.
Unfortunately, something that affects Norman’s personality in extreme ways is his addiction to a drug called “triptocaine”. Not much is known about this drug, whether it is just an illegal drug found on the street, or something that Norman takes to offset the effects of the ARI, but his dependence on this drug is something that influences him and some decisions he makes. Being mild mannered in demeanor, he will try to keep up this façade even when he is close to passing out because of lack of use. Norman tries to not let his addiction control him, but there are times when he gives into the temptation and uses; this happens on the job at times as well. He’ll become agitated at the slightest touch or remark given that might set him off, and as soon as he’s taken the drug, he’ll calm down right away; becoming easy going and easier to deal with, if only because he feels good. In this way, Norman follows the basic drug addict guideline.
In the end, Norman Jayden may be someone who is accustomed to knowing what might make a person tick, but that does not always translate to the world that he lives in. He’s smart, yes, but he’s also clearly someone who is still working on being a profiler who goes out and works a case, rather than sitting behind a desk most of the time, if the frequent use of the ARI is any indication. He’s good at controlling his emotions, but that doesn’t mean he is unflappable; he can be startled, but he does a good job at hiding it when need be. He has his problems that he deals with, but he is, deep down, a good guy who will do whatever he can to solve a case that is put in front of him, and he will always try to have whoever is at fault brought to justice. In Norman’s mind, the innocent should not be harmed, and he will do whatever he needs to, to make sure that does not happen. The world is not black and white, but shades of gray, and Norman is a man who walks between those lines as best he can.
Conditional: Personality development in previous game: N/A
Character Plans: Jayden is going to be angry when he’s first pulled to SP; he’s just been thrown off a case, he’s dealing with trying to save a child and an innocent man, as well as keep his addiction under control. With SERO checking in newcomers as they come in from the Core, the ARI on him will probably be scrutinized, as well as the triptocaine vials he will have on his person. Because of his drug addiction, he might end up in debt to SERO if they end up making more for him, though he’s trying to kick the habit and also not rely on the ARI as much, though SERO might want that technology. Once realizing that he’s stuck there, Jayden will join the police force as soon as possible, and while be a little shocked at their disarray, will do his best to be the best detective there and work hard for the city.
Appearance/PB: Jayden is an average and in shape man; he’s fairly attractive, though it’s easy to see that he doesn’t put a lot into maintaining that. His clothes are shabby. But he is always properly groomed for the occasion, which is mostly work. He has black hair that’s kept short, and usually looks like he just rolled out of bed in the morning. He’s clean shaven, though not great at it, as there are hints of stubble on his jaw. He has green eyes that have bags under his eyes from lack of sleep, and a small scar on his right cheek. In the end, Jayden looks younger then he really is, except when you see his eyes, which show how old he really is.

[The video feed turns on to show a man with dark brown hair, green eyes, and a small scar on his right cheek. He's looking at the video feed with a concentrated frown, water droplets clinging to his hair. He pulls out a badge, showing off his FBI identification card.]
Agent Norman Jayden, FBI. [Says clearly with
a thick Boston accent.]
I've heard from these greeters, and from the nice people from SERO that I've somehow been... "pulled" [And here he makes finger quotes with his free hand.] here to this place I've never heard of in Canada, of all countries. I'm just a little outside of my jurisdiction, it seems. [Funny? Not really.]
I've been sitting here for about twenty minutes answering questions and getting no answers. If anyone else out in the city can see this, I'd appreciate some real answers. If there are any city police, I'd appreciate hearing from them as well.
[He wipes some water from his face, a slight tremor to his hand.] I need to check in with my department and arrange some transportation back home.
[He sighs, putting the NV on his lap as he pulls out a glove and slides it onto his right hand, pulling out a pair of sunglasses and putting them on.]
I wonder what they're keeping me waiting for... [Mutters as he turns the ARI on, blue light coming from behind the sunglasses and he waits a moment before his hand starts moving, like he's throwing a ball back and forth. This continues until a woman's voice is heard, calling for 'Mr. Jayden.]
Coming! [He says, standing up as he turns the NV off.]
Third Person Sample
He couldn’t remember a time when he had been this angry. He was angry at the situation, angry at Blake, angry at the goddamn police in this city and their incompetence, and their willingness to throw the entire investigation away on a man who had lost his son. He’d yelled it at him, yelled it at that detective who thought the rules were just guidelines in a book somewhere that didn’t need to be followed, that Ethan mars just didn’t fit the profile. Slim fingers went into his jacket pocket, and he paused for a second, feeling the sunglasses where they were, nestled close to one of his blue vials. Jayden’s mind flashed for a moment on what he’d been told; "Do remember not to over indulge in you-know-what, sir," the older man had said, and he swallowed, pulling out the glasses and putting them on.
"I won’t," He said out loud, promising to himself as he turned the ARI on. The place was a washed in a Martian wasteland, and he slipped the glove on, already pushing away files as he didn’t need them. He needed to save Shaun Mars. He needed to save Ethan Mars. He needed to catch the Origami Killer, and it was a promise he made to himself as he pulled up the particles again. More orchid pollen and it felt like he was awash in it, senses overloaded with it once again.
"ARI, comment," He said, then suddenly felt jolted out of his chair as everything went black. The next thing he knew, he could feel what felt like damp grass underneath him, soaking his pants as he felt water droplets gather on his hair.
"What the hell!?" He asked, hands reaching up to touch the glasses, and he calmed down for a moment. Just another setting from the ARI. That’s all it was. He was close to calming his racing heart before he was yanked up by his arm, and he flailed about for a moment, knocking his glasses off as he slipped on the grass and fell back down. He stared up at the man who had taken his arm, face blurry from rainwater, and he wiped his eyes with the back of his sleeve. "Who are you?" He asked the man, feeling dizzy as he started to get what sounded like a rehearsed spiel about Canada, an island, being a Newcomer, everything. Still staring, he reached out to grab his glasses again, slipping the ARI into his pocket and then pulling out his FBI badge.
"Norman Jayden, FBI," he said, Boston accent thicker than ever, especially when he was stressed and confused. "Repeat that again. Where am I?" He felt like he was going to be sick for a moment, and his fingers tightened on the badge for a moment as he curled up a little, putting his head between his legs. Think, Norman, think, he told himself, willing away the sickness like he willed away the withdrawal symptoms. He could do this. He just needed to pick himself back up, get off the wet ground, and figure out how he had gotten to a different country. Unfolding himself, he started to get up from the ground shakily, feeling the pressure of the little vials in his jacket. They were almost like a reassurance to him as he stared up into the sky.
God, he hated the rain.
