Harry Potter Rec
I just want to absolutely rave for a minute - not in rantypants, but in WONDER.
Just in time for my midsemester exam, I have come across the most INSANE-YET-AWESOME THINGE EVER.
I know a lot of you on my flist are Harry Potter fans. But how many of us would create an AU world, and then re-work the plot OF EACH BOOK to fit it? In EQUAL LENGTH? Okay, I lie, I think the work here even outnumbers the words used in the series.
Seriously. It is awesomely written, and I am hooked.
Basically, the plot is that there were twin Potter boys (yes, yes, I know), and Harry is not The Boy Who Lived, but it is his brother, Connor. His parents did not die that night, and ever since have been training Harry to protect his brother so that he may vanquish the Dark Lord, once and for all. I am not making it sound as awesome as it is - but it is. Because Harry has been trained from a young age, and has to force his awesome power and talent into hiding, and pretend to be ordinary just so that his brother may prosper to be the leader that they all think he will be, all while he stands in the shadows, protecting him. But Harry is still the same Harry - powerful, loyal and drives to keep his brother safe and ready. But the thing is - all his scheming and planning and power land him in Slytherine, where he befriends Draco Malfoy. We all know where that will head (I have been reading slash for days)..but at the moment I am on book 2 and it is just SO GOOD.
It's just, the issues that arise in the book - whether it was right or not for Harry to be trained in such a manner, from such a young age, his true power, Voldemort/...just EVERYTHING.
I can't say enough about it. I really, really can't. I know most of you (well, some) do not slash, and even if you do, its not Harry/Draco, but this is worth it. Well - I'm not up to the slash, but so far it is so good that I DONT EVEN CARE ABOUT IT.
So go HERE immediately. IMMEDIATELY. And start reading - the stories come in .doc and .pdf version, which is SO HANDY I COULD CRY. I am not valiantly trying to study for my exam tomorrow instead of reading. AND FAILING.
