So. Who had a fantastic saturday? Well, that would be me!!!
Today was the AFL "footy" grand final - the Western Australian "west coast eagles" versus the Sydney Swans. This means, Western Australia, which is where I live, officially went insane. No, seriously. On the drive to work today, every second house was sporting the team colours. You could feel it in the atmosphere. The excitement, the team joy! And so, me being me, wore the Sydney colours in ribbon form in my hair. The second I walked into work, there were the managers, and like, 4 other staff in there, all saw me and called me a traitor. And gave me dissapointed looks. I may have sashayed through the back and out to the front. I felt smug. It was also my bosses 50th, so all the staff at my work and the other place he owns got together to get him a present. We are cool.
Anyway, since it was the grand final, it was empty. There were a few customers, but it was more like a weekday shift than anything. At one point, I meandered to the back to let the managers know that for the next few weeks I couldn't work the crazy 20 hour week, and they're like, "here, sign this." I got distracted by the title. Do you know what it was? ROBBIE WILLIAMS PROMOTION. Yes. I know. I may have squealed. A lot. Apparently, there is a competition going on between all the stores in regards to upgrading drinks or something, and so, the store that sells the most wins. Then, the managers of that store get two ROBBIE WILLIAMS TICKETS to his concert, and the employee that sells the most GEtS TWO TICKETS and there is also something to do with the customers, and they get the chance to win 2 tickets as well. But! ROBBIE WILLIAMS. *FLAILS*.
Then, just as I was FLAILING, I turned to look into the back of the shop, and one of the girl was making PAUL GROSS ARMS!!! I may have snorted and giggled and just barely stopped myself from shouting PAUL GROSS ARMS and doing it myself. By that point, I was well past amused.
Then to make me even more pleased, they let me leave an hour early. EARLY. So I went and got myself a Boost Juice, except on the way there...I passed the computer/PSP/Ninendo games store, and just as I was walking past, noticed all the other people walking past were slowing down, or having a double take. Just as I did? THERE WAS SCREAMING FROM INSIDE. I then noticed that the store was packed. This tiny little store had people brimming to the edge as they all craned their necks up to watch the football match. I was amused.
I got my drink/money/whatever, and was walking past again, and just as I went past, the football match ended and THE WHOLE SHOPPING CENTRE WAS SCREAMING. LOUDLY. I was grinning a lot. Anyway, the grand final was a nailbiter - in the end the West Coast Eagles won by ONE POINT. ONE POINT. Seriously. How fantastic!
I also only have 2 shifts next week totalling like, 9.5 hours which is brilliant because it gives me time to catch up on all my work. I am also determined to see Stormbreaker again. Yes, I am that sad.
eta: NABILAH. WHY DID YOU NOT TELL ME!?!?! THAT IS REALLY, REALLY AWFUL. FUCKING RACISTS. No, seriously. To be coherent, it is the Muslim holy month (with the fasting), and at her Mosque, it was shot at. Bullets. Near people's heads. Seriously. What sort of fuckers do that? Really? I mean, on Jewish holidays, the Shul I go to has really, really heavy security. It is insane. On Rosh Hashana the men had their Teffillah bags checked. It is that insane. I'm---disturbed. Also, I am watching the 5pm News and it has stuff on the shooting. People really suck sometimes.
And for some other bits and drabs....
Just because I can...
