Okay. So I tried to go to bed early-ish last night...but the lure of Brazil vs Australia was too strong. Because, I mean, Brazil. They are like...synonomous with soccer, and they are playing Australia, where it's sort of the wrong sort of football for us to be playing in a world cup and hope to win. Oh. I sound awful, don't I? But I was rooting for Australia! Because, BRAZIL man....like we stood a chance against them!!! This is coming out all wrong.
Anyway, the point is that that match really surprised me. Australia were wearing cool black uniforms (which caught my attention straight off the bat) and they played really, really well. Like, I couldn't believe how well they played. I expected Brazil to play so much better, because, well BRAZIL, but for me it was Australia who topped that match. I mean, Brazil won 2-0, but seriously, their playing was not up to parr. Ronaldo was the biggest disappointment for me. Although, Ronaldinho was awesome. I was really worried every time he went barreling for the Aussie goals. But Australia was consistent - we had a mighty good defence, and every time Brazil had the ball, there were lots of Aussie's around him, making life hard. At the end of the first half you could tell Brazil was just as surprised as I was.
The best part was that because Australia played SO WELL, Brazil got nervous - started making stupid passes and such. Even after they got their first goal. It was so funny to see BRAZILIAN fans booing their own (winning) team for stupid playing.
I was wondering the whole match why the Aus. coatch didn't stick Kewell on from the get-go. I may be biased 'cos I'm a Liverpool supporter, but he's aweosome and might have made the difference. Oh, but Viduka, he did that really cool thing to get the ball in the middle of the match!!! Oh, and the Brazillians did a cool little move as well.
I'm not making much sense. In summary: Brazil won, but Australia got something better - respect.
