Chemical glowsticks (they last 8 hours or so and don't need batteries, they keep for years. ) Ace bandages for a sprain Poison Ivy wash (rubbing alcohol will work in a pinch) Talcum powder (If you are starting to get blisters keeping the area dry with powder can help) Sunglasses Rain ponchos A bottle or two of bottled water to wash anything that gets cut badly Snake bite kit Rope A mirror to use as a signaling mirror If you're going to be away from water sources/filling up from streams or something, water purification tablets. Water carriage. I'm not sure up there in the rockies, but down here in Tennessee it's lack of water that really gets people in August. They don't carry enough with them. If you are carrying all your medications with you in a medicine holder, bring empties of all your prescriptions and stick them in the car or something; Friend of mine got arrested because she was on vacation and she had her heart medicine, but no prescription bottle with her.
