the big long entry about the weekend
SO.
This weekend was pretty cool.
I went home Thursday night cuz I didn't have class on Friday (w00t go me) and I stopped over to see Kris and Manda before Kris had to go to work and then went on home...so I got to spend some time with my mom, we were up until like 1230 talking about stuff, I think we really needed it. I got to sleep in til about 1130 I think on Friday which was nice, and I did some laundry (yay it's actually free instead of 1.75) and then Kris came down...we picked up Manda around 5 and went to Wal-Mart, met Brissachi and Tracey there, and they hung out for a little bit before the football game. We bought black things at WalMart, and we were in the parking lot for like two hours or something putting on makeup and painting our nails and stuff, so we could be gothic. so then paul shows up...lol! he looked awesome, it was really funny, his "costume" actually fit him...I can see Paul walking around like that on a normal day, just because. lol but anyways, so we get all makeuped and stuff and go to camelot. we scared like 90% of the people that were in there, cuz they were all mostly preppy 14-year-olds. Paul asked one of them to take our picture and she just kinda stared at him, and she was like uuh...ookaaay?? lol it was so funny, she looked terrified of us, like paul was gonna kill her in the next two seconds or something. So we went back to Paul's and I had a fun time trying to wash the makeup off my face (especially Manda's waterproof eyeliner lol)..and we watched Sin City...psychotic movie! it was pretty crazy, but still good. I liked the special effects more than anything.
Woke up Saturday around 1130 and tried to be functional - I've been getting sick and Saturday morning it just hit me. So I would have backed out of any other concert, more than likely, but it was Alter Bridge! So I decided that being sick was worth it and I'd just have to buck up. So I left a very sad Kris (lol) around 1215, got some food, and headed to Tracey's. We got to the Convo around 115 and waited in line. The people in front of us were really cool, and I thought they looked familiar...and they said the same about us. So we got to talking and they were at the show in Pittsburgh that Trace and I had gone to =) They're from some little po-dunk town in WV and they don't get any shows closer than about 2 hours away so they're always up in Pittsburgh and Cleveland for shows. The best part was when we started looking at their pictures of them with the band members...Trace and I were in the back of like half of their pics! lol it was so funny I was like Look that's me!!! lol it was great. All the Alter Bridge fans are usually really awesome and we had a good time waiting in line...about the first 20 people in line were all AB fans so that was awesome too, they were warm-up and we were all still there 6 hours before the show =)
So they let us in around 615 and we had til 730 to wait...it kinda sucked but it was better than standing outside. The Convocation Center is really nice - it's about the size of a college stadium - not OSU but like, YSU size. And the sound is great too. We got in the front row right in front of Mark (right side) and it was great - for all the Mark Tremonti fans we had the best spot in the place =D So they come out around 7:40. and I have to say they get better every time I see them! They only played 7 songs, which is a lot shorter than their 12 or whatever it was when they were headlining, but it was still so awesome! :D Mark gets better every time I see him - he did a guitar solo this time and tore two of the strings off his guitar...and kept playing! and it still sounded amazing. He is just incredible - you have to see him to understand what I'm talking about. so they were just incredible all together - Myles kept looking at us and singing to me :) I love being in the front row, you can interact with the band so much more than if you're anywhere else.
Shinedown was good overall, but their lead singer is a hardcore druggie. He was shaking so bad I thought he was gonna like start having seizures or something, it was ridiculous, and he looked all paranoid. And their guitarist is kinda weird too but he did a good job...he threw a pick right at me and I caught it =D (btw tracey caught one of brian's picks [bass] from AB) I Didn't get a great look at the bass or drummer, they were too far away. But they seemed more normal than the other two lol...their singer is crazy. He was unusually functional though, like he could sing and talk perfectly. I dunno, he was definitely on something. They played three or four songs I know which was cool cuz they were happy that people were singing along with them. Fly From The Inside, 45, and Save Me..and I think there might have been one more.
So after Shinedown 3 Doors Down was up, so we walked around for a bit, checked out the merch table (it was shitty and overpriced, as usual) and left. We had to walk like 2 or 3 blocks down the road..in the dark...in downtown youngstown...to get to the car cuz they wouldn't let us park it in the lot across from the convo. i was pissed and kinda nervous to be walking around y-town at night. but we didn't get shot, mugged, or raped, so I guess we're ok lol...we went to Wendy's and I took Trace home, and I went over to Paul's.
I was so sick Saturday night it was awful, I think I ate like 5 cough drops and I was so tired, but we were watching Stealth (really good movie btw) so I wanted to stay awake...and then after it was over I passed out in like 5 minutes...I felt bad cuz I kept waking Kris up overnight cuz I couldn't stop coughing, it sucked =( So Sunday I went home after they had to leave for the bar (I'm burning it down!!) and drank three cups of tea and ate some breakfast before I headed back up here. Nat & I took my camera from the show to Target and their one hour photo was backed up to like 3 hours. i was pissed!!! so I put it on one day photo, not sure I'll be getting them today though. Might wait til Wednesday, we have to go to Starbucks anyways...Gingerbread stuff!! =D
So yeah I feel like shit right now, I'm not going to class or anything, I'm considering French depending on how I feel later =( yuk!!
The weekend was fun but I'm paying the price now =( sickness is no fun!!
Once I get my pics I might scan them in over at the library so I can post them on here. They're exciting!!! =)
