"It's a question of character."

That's the response Geo gave me when we were talking about people who have a lot of opposite sex friends (as opposed to a lot of same sex friends). He's in the first category, I'm in the second. He never elaborated on that point. I think some of it depends who competitive you are with members of the same sex.

Anyway, I went to the beach last week with Maria and she said to me, "Tell me what you're thinking." People have been saying that to me and I asked why. She said, "Because you never say anything unless you're stimulated or I start the conversation." Isn't that the way communication is supposed to go?

Then Geo said the same thing today and I asked him what was up with that. He said I'm a very calm person, I never react much to anything and while I take the initiative many times, I never take credit for it. I didn't understand the last part, but I didn't press. I love hearing about myself, but I didn't want to seem so vain and I didn't want to push the lang difficulties.

A couple of days ago, Maria was on the train and needed to call me. Her phone didn't have credit, so she asked a random stranger to let her use his phone. He did, and promptly took down my phone number, her email address and wrote his number in her phone. He's been calling me and emailing her.
